I just went on a quick trip with my family. With good intentions, I packed my Bible and my devotional book. But you know what?!! We arrived Friday; I didn’t pull them out until we went to church on Sunday!
I have no problem remembering to read my Bible everyday, but when I get out of my routine, in a new situation, it seems like my schedule is out the door on vacation too!
The best thing about vacations: good food and good fun. Isn’t it funny how we don’t forget to eat on vacation??? Yet we forget to feed our souls, the powerhouse on which our life is built! We’re focused on the blessings God’s given us, a job to take a vacation from, money to go on vacation. Yet, we allow those things to distract us from the Giver of those things.
Psalm 119:105 reads, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
In the business of life, let’s not forget God, and His life guidance for us in His Word. When we seek Him, we position ourselves to be recipients of His wisdom, protection, and blessings. We don’t need God just on Sunday’s, we need Him Monday through Sunday. And like me, when we go on vacation and the schedule is just ‘do nothing’ let’s DO get in the Word and meet with Him!
Happy trails and travels with your family and Heavenly Father!
